Last year around this time, I was on a cross country yarn bombing road trip from Richmond to Portland that we called POM-DMC. As I sit here relatively homebound with a newborn, I can’t help but think what a difference a year makes…
Here’s the pug send-off I got before I left for a great weekend in NYC…And some more trip shots:

Crocheting on the train

Grabbing a post-arrival treat from the Shack
Just returned from a great weekend in Washington, DC to help out my old friend Tippy with the 2nd annual gandhiwarmer (last year we hit NYC). It went very smoothly, despite almost being halted early on by the Secret Service.

I made a few feet of Gandhi’s scarf along with some of my K1-D2 girls and of course we made hats and scarves to give away to those in need as well as garlands for the base.

We hope he liked our offerings.

While in town, I also made some time for old friends,

good eats,

and a visit to fibre space, where they make you wind your own yarn. It was my first time using a swift and with the Brushed Suri yarn I bought, it was a bit like making cotton candy.

Until next year, Mohandas!
Visiting Hampton Roads this weekend to check out my nephew’s game.
The pug always enjoys a good game!
And we’re off to our final stop of the 2010 European Tour…London!
I always love seeing Europe via the rail

and we make sure to bring good entertainment to kill time.
A day later than planned, but we made it to Paris! I’ve only visited during Springtime and it’s just as fabulous in the Fall.
There was a mix up at our hotel which ended up with us staying in the penthouse apartment with fireplace - well, okay!

Gotta love that view…
Times like this, it’s hard to be the K1-D2 blogger and post as well. I want to feature my trip on both websites and don’t want either to be redundant. So I tried to make the other one more knit-related and over here more personal….Here goes nothing!
After some airline snafus nearly had us miss Day 1 in Amsterdam, we arrived just 2 hours late. Our London friends were meeting us there, since they had never been there and my boy is practically a professional tour guide there.

I had a backpack devoted solely to my yarn bombs - and it was surprisingly heavy!
Hurray, packing up to leave for Europe tomorrow! Can’t wait, can’t wait!
I’ve got three yarn bombs ready and waiting - one for each city I stop in. I’ve been meaning to knit a cute cowl to wear on the trip, but of course I didn’t cast it on until last night. Ah, well - it’s a long plane ride and I do love to knit while traveling. Like they say, keep calm and carry yarn. More from the road later…
POM-DMC cross country road trip has left me with only 13 states left to check out.
Can it be Hawaii next, please?
Remember the lamb I made last month for my young friend to take to China? Well, it’s there now and hopefully being hugged right this very minute.
I put up a post about it on K1-D2 with help from our excellent travel corespondent, Sierra.
