Paradise Post | 11.01.11

Last night was Halloween and I went out amongst the goblins and ghouls to install October’s yarn bomb.

The people of Paradise Park in The Fan made a comment on my Facebook page a while back that they hoped I’d hit them sometime.  I never planned to - their park is well maintained and they had fun shapes and colors for the kids to enjoy.  It didn’t seem to need me.  Besides, I pick my own spots and don’t usually go for suggestions.

Paradise Postage

But I’ve recently heard that there is opposition to this park from some with a desire to tear down the cement structure (created in the 70’s) and convert the lot into a standard kind of courtyard.  So, I figured I’d tag Paradise Park to show my support for keeping the park fun and unusual.

Bomb Hole

Also, I thought that it might be a different sort of inspiration for the wee parkgoers. And a good ‘treat’ for them to get on Halloween.

Happy Halloween to the Paradise Park kids from The Knitorious M.E.G.!

Handcraft Bomb | 10.05.11

I’ve always been intrigued by the Hand Craft building in the Scott’s Addition area in Richmond.  Wonder what they do in there but would hope that there’s some handcrafting going on.

Handcraft

Speaking of handcrafting, I picked an empty pole near the building for my September yarn bomb.

With Wall

Yes, I know we’re now in October - the bomb was finished before the end of September but I didn’t get a chance to install it until last night.  Late night bombing was never a problem before the baby came this Summer, but it’s way different for me now…yawn!

Bus Stop Stools | 08.22.11

A few years ago, a bus ran into a covered bus stop on Semmes Avenue and totally wiped it out.  All that remained were two stumps.

Stop Before

It’s been a long time since bus riders could have a seat while they waited, so I thought I’d correct that with my August yarn bomb.

Street View Stools

I took July off from my monthly yarn bombs as I’d just had a baby girl.  I made this bomb pink for her.

Maybe someone is waiting for the bus on them right now…

I’m Back - And With A Baby! | 08.10.11

I’ve been hearing from you guys lately wondering where I’ve been and hoping for another yarn bomb soon…Well, I had a baby last month and things are just now settling down.  She’s without a doubt my greatest creation ever.

But my latest yarn bomb has been ready for a bit and will be going up soon - so stay tuned!

Loose Ends | 06.23.11

With the baby countdown nearing an end, I am busily trying to tie up lots of loose ends…Lots of overdue projects like a pair of hearts for a wedding gift (which happened last year), getting the nursery finished, working on my yarn bomb for July, I could go on and on - an endless list of projects that have been dormant for too long.  Wish me luck!

Rainbow Bench | 06.11.11

I installed my June yarn bomb early this morning at Byrd Park’s Fountain Lake.

Bench Front
You’ll now find there a rainbow bench in a shady spot where you can sit and watch paddle boats or geese go by.

Bench With Fountain

Today is also International Yarn Bombing Day, so I suppose this is my salute to that.

Gotta love a rainbow in the Summertime!

Maypole | 05.25.11

I thought for this month’s yarnbomb I’d make my version of a Maypole.

Tag Closeup

This pole used to host a sign for the Museum District, but has since been bare and looking ready for some Summer fun…So I had to oblige!

Preppy Pedestal | 04.26.11

There is an old, abandoned building downtown on East Grace Street with an odd stone pedestal sitting out front.  Seeing as the pedestal has no use now (what did it ever do, I wonder), I went out early this morning to give it a job.

Frontal Preppy

Now it’s brightening up the block with preppy stripes.

West Side Prep

The Knitorious M.E.G. was here.

Knitorious Pedestal

I didn’t hit it early enough though, because a guy strolling by stopped to talk to me for most of the installation.

Preppy Pedestal

Knowing the Downtown ‘Cleanup Ambassadors,’ it won’t last long…so enjoy my preppy pedestal while it lasts, ya’ll!

Frontal Prep

[After I posted this here, a Fan informed me that this pedestal was featured in a Lifetime movie from 1991…Love it!]
