I experienced my first - and hopefully only - earthquake yesterday…Craziness! The house shook like mad and some dishes fell from the closed cupboard but luckily that is all I have to report. The baby was already crying so I couldn’t tell if she noticed or not, but the pug was certainly bewildered about what was going on. Now it looks like a hurricane heading this way this weekend?! Take it easy on VA, Mother Nature!
I’ve been hearing from you guys lately wondering where I’ve been and hoping for another yarn bomb soon…Well, I had a baby last month and things are just now settling down. She’s without a doubt my greatest creation ever.
But my latest yarn bomb has been ready for a bit and will be going up soon - so stay tuned!
It’s 4th of July weekend and I’m stuck being very pregnant and not able to do much. Luckily, I live close to a Farmer’s Market where I could hop over and get some good eats for the long holiday weekend…Here go some pics from my visit. Those sourdough donuts were sooooo good!

Richmond is far from being a sports kind of town. But when the VCU Rams unexpectedly won their game last weekend, sending them to the NCAA Final Four, it transformed Richmond into an enthusiastic, rah rah rah city. Signs everywhere, sandwiches named after the Senior players, everyone wearing team colors, VCU donuts. Suddenly, there was something RVA could agree on. I don’t watch basketball at all but even I caught the fever - rooting for the home team and making black and gold cookies for watching the game.

Well, the Rams lost their semifinal game last night, but Richmond certainly remains proud of what our local boys worked hard to achieve.
One of my favorite things about Paris in Spring is all the chocolate fish made for Poisson d’Avril ...A much better way to celebrate April Fool’s Day than fake poo or invisible ink.
Just launched a Facebook Page today…Drop on by and become a fan!
What a great Spring weekend full of good stuff…Finished reading ‘Catching Fire,’ a yummy shrimp and grits dinner (and my first posset!) at Lulu’s, nice walks among flowering trees, the painting of the nursery (lilac)

and working out the fabric choices for it,

a poker tournament with the boys,

and the pug participated in the Dog Jog for the SPCA.

Can’t wait to see what next weekend brings!
Last night was a belated birthday Knit Nite for me featuring 2 kinds of wontons and a candelabra-ed ice cream cake - woot!

Then today I finally got around to checking out the exhibit of Sally Mann’s newer work at VMFA before the show closes this weekend. I really prefer her older work from the 1990’s, but the landscapes of battlefields featured here were great. And now bring on the weekend!
It’s my birthday weekend - woohoo! It always falls on MLK weekend, which is a nice guarantee of a 3 day celebration. I’m spending half of the weekend out of town at my mom’s to celebrate with family and the other half in Richmond. Mom always makes whatever dinner we pick - this year I chose fondue, yum! As official family baker, I made a chocolate cake that I’d wanted to try but my 11 year old niece adorably insisted on baking something for me, too - which turned out to be a cinnamon cake. And a very nice time was had by all. Also went with Mum to see The King’s Speech at the Naro - quite good.

Then it was back to Richmond for Phase 2 of birthday weekend. The pug’s birthday is actually one day after mine, so we’ve gotten in the habit of meeting up with friends and their dogs at a dog park for sweets (for both people and pups) and celebrating. This time I made her wear the balaklava I made as last year’s birthday gift.

And let the party continue…Tomorrow is my official birthday and I celebrate with Richmond by spreading a little yarny cheer!
The process will begin soon to move my studio to a spot in the basement and make way for a nursery. It’s a bummer to give up the real estate, but the new tenant will make it more than worth it!

Figure I should document the space before we break it all down.

No, I’m not going to show the inside of the rolltop desk - it’s too messy in there!

I’ve got little things stationed all over for inspiration.

Sure will miss the studio space but super excited about what’s to come! Here is the view from the porch beyond the door - soon I’ll have someone keeping me company out there!
